Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)

Overview:
Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) is professional development for pastoral ministry. It is designed for ministers, seminary students, and others interested in developing pastoral ministry skills.

Program Description:
Interns attend a weekly “peer group” meeting and participate in active pastoral ministry throughout the week. The “peer group” focuses on insights from theological, medical, and psychological disciplines to assist the intern in becoming a more effective shepherd, able to care for hurting people.

The intern may serve the active pastoral ministry assignment at the Denver Rescue Mission’s Lawrence Street mission, Champa House (transitional house for women and children), Family Rescue Ministry with The Crossing (a case management and mentoring program for homeless working families), or at Harvest Farm. Placements are assigned in conultation with a local CPE certifying agency, Rocky Mountain Pastoral Care and Training Associates, which guarantees professional standards for certification.
