The clinic at Denver Rescue Mission/Lawrence Street (DRML)
works with volunteer service providers to offer medical, dental,
optical, chiropractic, and referral services to the needy.
Over 200 individual clients visit the clinic each month. Clients include
New Life Program residents from The Crossing, Harvest Farm, and Champa
House,
as well as homeless and indigent people who might otherwise not receive
care.
The clinic includes two dental chairs and operatives, an automatic dental
x-ray processor, a daylight loader, all new sterilization equipment,
and state-of-the-art optical equipment. Program residents learn new job
skills by assisting volunteer professionals and handling general reception
duties.
Medical: Free acute medical care is offered once a week.
Dental: The newly remodeled clinic with state-of-the-art dental equipment enables dentists to meet a greater variety of dental needs and serve more people. For dental services involving lab fees, the Mission seeks individual grants for patients that qualify.
Optical: The optical clinic provides free eyeglass frames. Patients pay a nominal fee for both single lens glasses and bifocals.
Chiropractic: General chiropractic services are offered throughout the week.
Referrals: Clients may receive referrals to other agencies for follow-up care.
Volunteers: Services are provided, as volunteers are available.
Volunteers contribute an average of 80 hours a month to the DRML clinic.
